Erratum
In our media release of 22 November 2006 “Europarliament excludes sexual orientation from equality statement for its secretariat” we relayed information conveyed to us by insiders in the Bureau, given to us in good faith and that was, to the best of our knowledge, factually correct.
Print HTMLUnfortunately, due to the lack of official records there is no way to confirm the validity of the details given to us by these sources. On this matter, it has come to our attention that Vice-President Sylvia-Yvonne Kaufmann (GUE/NGL - Germany) disputes the details given to us, she highlights that whilst she did not vote against, she did abstain. We regret that the Vice-President nevertheless took a passive stance against the proposed amendment rather than wholeheartedly supporting the amendment.
We also wish to point out that the President Josep Borrel Fontelles (PES – Spain) did not vote at all. The President never votes in the Bureau, unless his vote is decisive which was not the case on this occasion.
