LGBTI equality and human rights in Europe and Central Asia

Capacity-building seminar on LGBTQ activism and intersex

On 3-5 July, ILGA-Europe and IGLYO (International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Youth and Student Organisation) gathered 18 LGBTQ activists from all over Europe for a capacity building seminar on LGBTQ activism and intersex. The seminar took place in Berlin.

The seminar provided the participants with diverse knowledge, skills and attitudes to build alliances with intersex people and organisations, and develop initiatives that support them more effectively.

The objectives of the seminar were to:

  • Increase the knowledge and sensitivity of participants to specific aspects of intersex people life experiences and human rights violations they are facing
  • Increase the capacity of participants (and organisations they represent) to reach out to intersex activists and build alliances with them, and to better respond to the various needs of intersex people and support them
  • Ensure that the needs and rights of intersex people are integrated into LGBTQI services, campaigning and advocacy

Experts from OII Europe (Organisation Intersex International Europe) were co-facilitating the seminar.
