Today the European Parliament endorsed Tonio Borg as the next EU Commissioner for Health.
Civil society organisations: “We call for the rejection of Tonio Borg’s nomination at plenary vote at the European Parliament”
Today at 17:00 members of the European Parliament Sophie In’t Veld (ALDE), Franziska Brantner (The Greens/EFA) and a coalition of seven civil society organisations are hosting a press conference regarding the nomination of Tonio Borg as the new EU health Commissioner.
The EU has thrown in the towel about protecting discriminated groups, including lesbian, gay and bisexual people, persons with disabilities, religious minorities, youth and older people. A coalition of European equality and anti-discrimination NGOs [1] now calls on the European Commission and the Danish Presidency of the EU to urgently take up this issue.
