Ukrainian activists raise human rights concerns during Brussels visit

On 17 and 18 February, ILGA-Europe organised a study visit for 4 LGBTI activists from Ukraine. 

During the visit, the activists met with the deputy head of the Commissioner Hahn’s cabinet, representatives from DG NEAR and DG HOME at the European Commission, the officials from the European External Action Service and MEPs at the European Parliament.

Meetings took also place at European Endowment for Democracy (EED), European Network of Equality Bodies (EQUINET) and European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI).

During the meetings, the activists shared their analysis of the current political and human rights situation in Ukraine, raised the human rights concerns of LGBTI people in Ukraine and called on the institutions to keep monitoring and raising LGBTI issues with their counterparts in the Ukrainian government.
