Training on “Financial Management & Funds Administration”

On 31 March - 2 April 2015, ILGA-Europe organised the training on Financial Management and Administration in Budapest for the second time. The training lasted 3 days and was attended by 20 LGBTI activists from NGOs from all across the Europe.

The training program was tailored to answer current needs of ILGA-Europe’s member organisations. During the training the activists had an opportunity to learn the main principles of financial management of an NGO, methods to ensure financial transparency of the organisation, and how to strategically align administrative work with the organisational every day work. Furthermore, the participants were guided through practical exercises to develop an organisational budget, to set internal financial procedures that are essential for efficient budget implementation, and to work over the financial reporting to donors. The training program also included sessions on fundraising and the role of financial management in the organisational sustainability. The training program consisted of theoretical parts combined with practical exercises and interactive activities. It also included an exercise on peer learning and experience sharing between the participants. The training was concluded with the session dedicated to planning further steps in terms of financial management after participants get back home.
